Back in Bloomington

So it's only been... almost 6 months since I last posted! A lot has happened this summer-- started a new job, went on vacation-- but now I'm back at IU for another semester. This past weekend the weather finally cooled down and I went to the Bloomington Farmer's Market with some friends!

We saw lots of fall produce and colorful flowers! Guin got some raw honey in a jar and a bunch of eggplants. We ended up walking around town for a little while, petting dogs and visiting The Garret, an antique store in an old limestone house.

We finished the afternoon at Rainbow Bakery, enjoying vegan donuts (green tea, raspberry hibiscus, strawberry basil) and fancy soda (butterscotch, juniper berry, cucumber). It is so colorful and retro inside!

Until next time, goodbye from Bloomington!

Hummingbirds

I absolutely love the pastel colors of this outfit! The dress and T-shirt are both cotton and very comfy. This is actually a combo of two of my favorite outfits from last spring--check out the originals below.

Mint Julep

Spring has been taking its sweet time this year. I try to dress for any weather I might encounter during the day so it's been a lot of summer t-shirt/winter sweater combos. At least I have lots of cool-weather clothes in springy bright colors, like these mint green jeans!

Ombre Nails

This is a super easy nailart DIY! All I used was this pink polish as well as plain white. First, I painted both my thumbs the pure pink from the bottle. Next I dripped a few drops of pink onto a piece of tinfoil, and then one drop of white. After mixing it up, I painted both my pointer fingers with this lighter pink. For each nail I added a few drops more until it reached the lightest shade on my pinky!

I love how subtle and beautiful it is! Has anyone else done something like this? Maybe each nail going from light to dark?

Megan's Bridal Shower

I wanted to share some photos from last weekend's bridal shower for our family friend Megan! We decorated with green and blue and lots of daffodils. I didn't get a lot of party shots but I think you can see the bright, fun atmosphere!

 The party planning ladies!

The dessert table-- with delicious cupcakes from The Flying Cupcake!

 Yummy lemonade!

Croissants, chicken salad, and mini caprese salad skewers!

Some Amazing Music

Today I wanted to share something very important to me!! My boyfriend Dan has created a Kickstarter for his band, Little Timmy McFarland of Flight 19. Their music is a fun combo of rock, country, and punk, and they are pressing their newest album to vinyl! I'll let him describe it himself--

"Cruelty was written over the Summer of 2013.  Envisioned as the guitar-music equivalent to a book of short stories, each of the eleven songs functions as a character sketch; a gallery of portraits, bad people doing bad things.  Examples: A song called "Only Dogs" features two lovers who find a creative way to revitalize their relationship.  A song called "Cabrini-Green" features someone who realizes funny feelings about gang activity."

You can get the entire 11 song digital download for only $10, and the actual vinyl for $25! Best of all, the project has already been funded, so you're guaranteed to get your music! Every additional dollar is being spent on making the album even better.

Pink Tights

I was at Target today, walking by that entire rack of rainbow colored tights at Target, when I noticed they were on sale. $2.50 for something I've been looking at all season? Yes! I was a little overwhelmed by the choices but eventually went with a bright pink because I wear that color a lot.

And since it's FINALLY been warm and sunny these past couple of days, I celebrated by breaking out my first dress of the season! I'm sure someday I'll be able to wear it without legwarmers, if spring ever comes....

Help!! It's super windy!!
